Updating alienware 7700 bios
Doing more research in the STOP message, there was talk of Multi Card readers for memory cards causing the error.
My Alienware contains 4 Card Readers built-in on the side of the laptop.
Pressing restart system does not give me a STOP error message and the laptop safely restarts.
Possibly, having 2 different brand HDs is causing error, I remove the Western Digital HD and leave only the Sea Gate 120GB connected to the Alienware since the Sea Gate was the original HD.
During the laptop booting process, "Fast Track" was not detecting any HDs connected to the laptop.
I purchased a new Western Digital 250GB EIDE HD to possibly remedy the situation.
Retrying to install XP, I get the same identical error.I just recently recieved an Alienware Area-51 M7700 D900T laptop from a friend of mine who recieved a better computer and didn't feel like dealing with the Alienware's problems. The laptop's original problem was the hard drive was not being detected. This is a note for myself and anybody else who finds themselves frustrated when it comes time to reinstall Windows XP on their Alienware laptop with RAID (this advice applies to more than just the M7700).Basically, the behavior I ran into was that I would boot to the Windows XP CD and it would ask me if I had any drivers, press F6.
